welcome, friend!
get to know me
I’m a 30-something woman who is loved and kept by Jesus. I’ve been happily married to my college (HU! You know!!) sweetheart for 11+ years. I’m a mama and home educator to 5 kids ages 10 and under. I love warm weather, the sound of the waves at the beach, worshipping God through teaching his Word to other women, and iced white mochas from Starbucks (hashtag basic). Writing, whether on the web or the notes app on my phone, makes me feel like the best version of myself. To spin off of Olympic runner Eric Liddell, When I write, I feel His pleasure.
what to expect from on the way home
As the name denotes, on the way home is all about the journey I’m on, namely, towards heaven. Most of my writing is on the intersections of faith and motherhood, a reflection of the current season I’m in. You’ll also get to read about my creative interests, the joys and challenges of home educating, and other random bits from whenever inspiration sparks.
One week I may write about clinging to God’s promises when pep talks didn’t cut it during postpartum depression. The next week I may share about how stewarding my creativity sometimes means having a messy kitchen. I may reflect on what my 33rd birthday as my “Jesus year” means to me, or how pregnancy hits different when you’ve had prior miscarriages.
The writing here at on the way home intends to reflect various aspects of my humanity and facets of my personhood as a woman made in the imago dei, which includes all the twists and turns, the intersections and crossroads and detours that come on my path to seeing him face to face. It’s hopeful and unpredictable and honest and real, and I hope you’ll link arms with me for the journey.
